One-by-one, the usual Wednesday morning folks arrive on Zoom. It is our weekly healing prayer group, and we chat while we wait for others to log in. We have been gathering every Wednesday for more than five years. We have prayed for a lot of people over those years. We have also fostered a community amongst ourselves.
We do spend the majority of our time praying for healing for those who have asked for our prayers. We pray for nurses and doctors. We pray for broken relationships and for the anxious and the lonely. And we also check-in with one another. How are we doing?
We help one another through anxious times. We also help one another be faithful. We help each other keep God’s words. Creating a community of faith, no matter how small, is no small thing in a distressed world. Our praying together has changed us, and I am convinced this adds to the healing in the world.
You only are my portion, O י ה ו ה ;
I have promised to keep your words.
Psalm 119:57
