Incremental light

The longest night ushers me gently into the morning. Beginning today, as the side of the earth on which I live begins a slow turn toward the sun, the light will incrementally increase. It will not be a steady expansion, but an uneven lengthening of daylight.

In another hemisphere they have just celebrated the longest day, and head into the time of decreasing sunlight. In both places, eyes and hearts turn toward the coming Light of the world.

And in the silence of the dawning, I wait.

For God alone my soul in silence waits;
from the One comes my salvation.
Psalm 62:1
